Nice study from Emory quantifying the increased risk of infection in this vulnerable group. These patients should remain vigilant in today’s environment and be considered for pre-exposure prophylaxis where available, in addition to staying up to date with vaccinations and follow-up boosters. Even in untreated patients, titers were 11-fold lower than healthy vaccinees, confirming the disease causes an inherent immunodeficiency to COVID19.

No soup for Atezolizumab on this one! This expensive, six drug combination did not show any benefit in any subgroup. Checkpoint inhibition does not seem to have any ground in neoadjuvant HER2+ breast cancer.

Impressive phase II results from MDA, confirming many of our prior anecdotal experiences with this drug. Not a randomized study but it is now approved in the locally advanced and metastatic setting. Responses were seen across all subgroups including PD1-neg patients.

Impressive response rates and complete response in this setting, with moderate toxicities. Randomized trial is necessary to document survival, PFS differences. Cost will be very considerable in the setting value-based strategies. The clinical benefit must be quite superior in a randomized setting.
